Five Finky Obsessions

January 27, 2009

Brandi at Silver Pencils tagged me and I’m dorkily thrilled. Why? Because it’s my VERY FIRST TAG. (You now officially have permission to roll your eyes and exit stage left.)

I’ve been blogging for over two years and secretly wishing someone would tag me but acting all cool like I didn’t care. Yeah, yeah c’mon – you’ve been there too. Oooh, I just had a flashback of the junior high dance! *shivers*

Rules of the tag: List 5 Obsessions/Addictions that you have, and tag back to the person(s) that gave you the award. Post the rules and tag an additional 5 people.

1. I’m obsessed with everything Anne of Green Gables. It’s true. I first read the book when I was 12 and I’ve never looked back. I spent my childhood pining for my own Gilbert Blythe and dreaming about what my life would be like if I lived in Avonlea. I have read everything L.M. Montgomery has ever written many times over and own an impressive (some may say disturbing) panoply of Anne-related items including, but not limited to: videos, dolls, figurines, bookends, puzzles, jewelry boxes, coffee mugs and calendars (like the one above my desk at the office). In the summer of ’07, my soon-to-be-fiance took me to Prince Edward Island where I reached a level of happiness that I’m sure was not healthy for my cardiovascular system.

2. I don’t have names for my wedding dress, car, plants, home, or pets (ok so they were chickens, but still) but I do have a name for my bag: Miranda Marie. It’s been almost a year now and I’m just as in love with her as the first day I saw her. She was only a fantasy, of course – who spends that much money on a bag?! – so when she was delivered to my office on Valentines’s Day last year with a note from (VERY FRUGAL) husband, I almost passed out.

3. Blogs. I am obsessed with blogs. I spend hours in Google Reader, catching up on all the latest  decor/designers/celebrities/tech news/friend stories/Vancouver happenings/wedding trends. (Yep, even though I got married last November, I still read Weddingbee obsessively. I love those girls!!)

sushi

4. Sushi. I could eat it every single day, which is funny because until the age of about 15, I wouldn’t touch fish with a ten foot pole. Our favorite little secret sushi place in Vancouver is Yanaki on 6th and Willow. Oops, I didn’t mean to tell you that. Now I have to kill you.

5. Online window shopping for clothes and shoes. You name it, I probably spend hours drooling over things there. But I justify it as research! Since I don’t shop as much as I’d like to in real life, I tend to buy classic things which last forever and spend a lot of time trying to figure out how to wear things in different ways. I get a little thrill out of it, actually. My friends and coworkers think I have a way bigger closet than I actually do. Sometimes I take pictures of myself too but so far I’ve only used them to make sure what I’m wearing looks presentable to more people than just me (heh).

Yay, my turn to tag! I tag:
A Jill Story
Other Pieces of Me
Girl on the Park
Vanilla Jen
Two Chicks Nest

You have great style and I’m referring to #5, not your taste in blogs (okay, maybe both). I also browse online daily and hardly ever buy. As for #4, I’ll have to try that place. My favourite place is Toshi’s on 16th off of Main. Mmmm, sushi. Hey, that makes me think that the book club should really pick a book with a sushi theme. Then we could discuss whatever book it is at a sushi bar!

    Hee! Tagger bounce!
I love Anne of Green Gables too! When I was 10, my mom and dad brought me on an Anne-centric vacation to PEI. I was so excited!

Yay! I’m so happy you were excited!! :) And I love Miranda Marie! I’ve never named a purse before but I’m inspired now. And great gift from a frugal husband!

Hey gorgeous, :-) I didn’t realize you JUST got tagged by someone else… I nominated you for another one on my blog. Whoops! :-)

One of my answers to the tag question was the same as yours: I LOVE sushi!
